Guitar Initiative is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to create and support guitar education opportunities for underserved populations, students in schools, and in the community.
to train Houston-area music teachers to easily add guitar programs at their schools.
to provide instruments, accessories, repertoire and curriculum for classroom guitar programs.
to provide educational opportunities for guitar students and underserved populations.
VISION STATEMENT
Our vision is to connect people through the power of music. We strive to create opportunities for every student in the greater Houston area to have access to quality guitar education.
Organization History
August 13, 2014: Created at meeting of local teachers and Austin Classical Guitar consultants, Houston ISD Professional Development Day, Houston, Texas.
September 2014 to Present: Guitar Teacher's (Free) Wednesday Workshop, 4:30-5:45pm, Bellaire HS
September 2014 to Present: On-site consultations begin (approx. 2 per month).
June 9-12, 2015: First Summer Guitar Conservatory, Bellaire HS.
January - April, 2016: Application as official not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
June 7-10, 2016: Second Summer Guitar Conservatory: Guitar Instruction for Students and R&D Workshop for Teachers
